There are a number of ways of getting to Milwaukee and other parts of Wisconsin and the United States, with buses, vans, coaches, trains and taxis running in all directions.
Many hotels provide courtesy shuttles, while taxis and limousines provide the fastest transport option for getting to downtown Milwaukee.
Buses
Public bus number 80 runs to Sixth Street in downtown Milwaukee from General Mitchell International Airport in about 25 minutes. Three coach operations run to other locations in the state and beyond including: Badger Coaches to Johnson Creek and Madison; Wisconsin Coach Lines to Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha Counties; and Greyhound Lines to all routes. Shuttle Buses
Shuttle buses run to the city and its hotels, with Airport Connection services available 24 hours a day, every day. Shuttles run from the central and north end of the traffic island outside Arrivals.
Hotel Shuttles
Many hotels provide free shuttle transport to their establishments for patrons and the hotel shuttles desk is located between the Amtrak shuttle desk and the taxi pickup area outside Arrivals.
Trains
A recently opened Amtrak train station is located on the western side of General Mitchell Airport, at 5601 South 6th Street. Known as the Milwaukee Airport Railroad Station and often abbreviated to just 'MARS', this station can be reached by using covered walkways. From here, trains run to Milwaukee and Chicago, from where connecting trains depart to destinations nationwide.
Taxi Cabs
Taxis are available at General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) from right outside the terminal entrance in the center of the traffic island. Wheelchair-friendly taxis are available on request.
Limousines
Limousines can be booked ahead of time online or by telephone. Rates are not particularly expensive for the added comfort that traveling by limousine after a long flight provides.
